Kohima, December 28 (MExN): The 7th edition of the e-Naga Summit on the theme ‘Towards promotion of International trade through Information Technology’ organized by the Information Technology & Communication Department, Nagaland was held at the IT&C Conference Hall here on December 28.

International trade is not about how we do it but it is all about people to people contact and information technology is the right platform, said President of Indian Chamber of International Business, Manpreet Singh. He was speaking as resource person of the summit on the topic “Potential of International Trade in North East Region of India”.

As a chamber we are facilitators, and ICIB has been working with the State for more than a decade on promotion of varied local products and cultural items, he said. Singh affirmed that IT is the key growth factor with the pandemic condition continuing.

Citing the premium quality of honey available in Nagaland, he said Nagaland has bigger scopes in king chilly, pineapple and other organic products. He appealed the producers of the state to utilize the availability of technology at the doorsteps. The online facilities created through information technology have made it easy for producers to reach the market across the world, he said.

Nagaland has its own opportunity within its diaspora which is not being used, he said while encouraging entrepreneurs to start small and grow big. It is all about how we package and pitch ourselves out, he said.

Asserting of all possible help in any field, he said with 200 countries around the globe the opportunities are immense for the Naga youngsters. 

Pro Vice Chairman of Delhi Public School & Chairman Echahaba Tea Growers Cooperation Society Ltd, Dr Ao Toshi said, “Nagas feel inferior to others and so don’t want to promote our own products.”

“Things have changed dramatically with the IT revolution,” he said adding that the demand for product has increased. He suggested the young entrepreneurs to overcome the inferiority complex and not to forget the traditional crafts and food culture instead of replicating the resources and products of other areas. IT should be used to do trade and not make it trade, he said. He impressed and stressed to focus on the available resources and capitalizing it. 

CEO Ramietech & Local Entrepreneur Kedo Nagi spoke on doing e-Commerce and entrepreneurship to boost the economy. Trade and technology goes hand in hand to improve the economy of the State and Country, said Additional Director IT&C Sabou Yashü in his chairman's remark. Mengu Suokhrie enthralled the gathering with special number.
