In its effort to raise the next generation of musicians starting with children, the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) today had eight year old musician from Dimapur, Jentijung Tirshana Aier as its first ever TaFMA Student Advisor. Theja Meru, Advisor to TaFMA said, “this is right under the vision of the Chief Minister of Nagaland and we want to start with the very young children and let them grow, make mistakes, we want to stretch them, build them young because music is a very competitive business.”
To their pleasant surprise, Jentijung Tirshana Aier came across as a very bold child with pure talent. Meru said, “This exercise will hopefully inspire people her age,” while indicating that it is also a gesture to thank parents who invest in their young lives. Many parents, he said, “may just look at music as a hobby and not as ‘studying’ but Jentijung’s parents have also given a very balanced view of life.”
While this exercise is clearly a platform for them, “we also want to create wonderful memories with children. A lot of our hope is in the children,” Meru added.
For eight-year-old Jentijung Tirshana Aier, being the TaFMA Student Advisor for a day was something she will remember for the rest of her life. She started her day by calling on the Chief Minister of Nagaland to thank him for all his support and love for the music and arts fraternity in the state. Later, she also addressed the fraternity via TaFMA’s Instagram page wherein she noted that it was a day she will remember and cherish for a long time to come.
She further expressed that her time at De’Operatus Music School, Kohima was very special where she witnessed an exclusive performance for her. The eight-year-old musician also inaugurated ‘I Love Nagaland’ art exhibition at GOCA, RCEMPA.
“A Big Thank You to TaFMA for inviting me to be the Student Advisor for the day to express my heart, share my dreams and be a voice for all the children of Nagaland,” she added. Putting forth suggestions to TaFMA, she proposed a Music Residency for children her age to interact and learn from senior musicians apart from a musical where children her age can participate.
To the music and arts fraternity of Nagaland, she said, “let us continue to follow our passion and calling with pride in our hearts and smiles on our faces. Let us work hard and make Nagaland proud.”
Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio had also tweeted about their meeting stating hope that she has had an enriching and a memorable experience. He also extended “best wishes to TaFMA as it takes action on its vision to nurture the young and inspire the next generation.”
Thanking the Chief Minister for all his support and patronage, Theja Meru said TaFMA will continue to carry out the exercise and are currently trying to identify variety of talents from across Nagaland.
