8th ENSF general conference culminates with call for Naga unity

Tuensang, April 17 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Yanthungo Patton graced the valedictory programme of the 8th Eastern Naga Students’ Federation cultural fiesta-cum-general conference 2025 as the chief guest at Tuensang on April 17.

Speaking at the function, Patton said that the true strength of the people lies in unity, and the present Naga society being fragmented with different groups hampers peace and development of the Nagas.  Patton urged the student communities to play a positive role in unifying the Nagas, stated a DIPR report. 

He highlighted the commitment of the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr Neiphiu Rio, in the development and progress of the Eastern brothers and sisters, along with the rest of the Nagas, by creating new Districts for better development from the grassroots level. He added that Eastern Nagas should bring a progressive change not only in Eastern areas but in the rest of the State as well. 

Honoured Guest Imtichoba MLA, in his address, stated that in the Eastern Region, there is much more to be done in the fields of medicine, communication and education. He urged the students to stay away from drugs and look forward to moving on with the changing of time, and not solely depending on government jobs to make their ends meet.

Other highlights of the function were a welcome Address by Sepikyu Sangtam, VP ENSF, a Folk Fusion performance from Khiamniungan Students' Union, a short speech from Er Chingmak, General Secretary, ENGOA, Special Presentation from Eastern Nagaland Sumi Students Union, and Molo Phom, Assistant General Secretary, ENSF, also shared a few words.

The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister of Housing and Mechanical, P Bashangmongba Chang, Advisor for Treasuries & Accounts and Art & Culture, K Konngam Konyak, Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports, S Keoshu Yimchunger, Advisor for Prison, Printing & Stationery, Er Kropol Vitsu, Advisor for Information Technology & Communication, Economic & Statistics, Evaluation, Sethrongkyu, and Member of Legislative Assembly, Benei M Lamthiu.
