Maligaon, October 5 (MExN): During the month of September, a total of 966 freight-carrying rakes were unloaded under the jurisdiction of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).
Of the total, 526 rakes (including 264 essential commodities) were unloaded in Assam, while 18 rakes were unloaded in Nagaland. The unloading in other Northeast states included 64 rakes in Tripura, 9 in Arunachal Pradesh, and 1 in Manipur. Additionally, 179 and 169 freight rakes were unloaded in areas of West Bengal and Bihar, respectively, under NFR jurisdiction.
The freight rakes transported goods such as FCI rice, sugar, salt, edible oil, food grains, fertiliser, cement, coal, vegetables, automobiles, tanks, and other items, stated a press release from the CPRO, NFR.
Essential and other commodities are being transported regularly not only to meet the essential requirements of the common people but also to support the local economic activity of all the regions, it added.
