It all started one rainy day at home.
Dad asked me to help him dye his hair black. The procedure began. After 30 seconds of application I had already managed to drop a big droplet of dye on his new jean. I quickly asked him to wash it off least the stain never disappears. He keenly cleaned it. After that I began applying the dye again only to knock the dye bowl off his hand and slap-bang all over him. Yup, the dye was splattered all over his shirt, his jean and his face. Hilarious as he looked, it didn’t stop him from giving me one angry stare and one big yield! How could I be so clumsy? I know I have a talent to be all thumbs but still!!! I ran to my room and hid there for the rest of the day. I think mom finished my job for dad!!!
Came the day after. The rain seemed to have washed the world clean including my clumsiness (grin*). Afternoon, my mom and I went to the market to buy something for my grandma. It was raining pretty heavy. So, there we were at a shop near CHSS. I went to the other side of the road to buy a top-up for my phone. After recharging I walked off the shop to get to my mom on the other side. Dimapur traffic was busy as usual and it was still raining so I waited outside a make-shift shop. The next thing that happened send shocking chills right down my spine. The temporary plastic roof above my head gave away to the weight of the collected rain water. It fell right over my head. I thought someone poured a bucket of water over me. It was cold. Really! I was socked to my socks. Half of Dimapur’s population saw me and laughed their guts out! As much as I was embarrassed with people staring at me I did managed to cross the road without having being hit by a car. I mean, that would have been the ultimate top-up!!!!
Came the next day. It was a total sunshine day. My mom sent me to new market along with our helper. After shopping everything on mom’s list we headed towards the car to dump the groceries. We had a lot of things to carry so we asked a collie to help carry the 50 Kg of rice bag. Our helper carried the big carton. I carried the bag that contained 10 Kgs of mom’s boil-rice. The three of us walked off the shop in a line. I was the first (of course). So, this is what happened. Have you noticed the big holes on the new market pavement???? I fell right into it with the bag of rice on my hands. I mean, come’ on, the nallah underneath the pavement is stinking, the water is black in colour and God know what else is in there!!! So, again, half of Dimapur’s populating saw me sunk to me knees in non other than the famous new market. Of course, I created a small traffic because every bihari knight in their shining armour came running to save me (laughing uncontrollably *) But with the 10 kilos of rice I was still holding I was as heavy as 60 kilos (to be exact*). Finally I came out all by myself that also without puking!!! I guess I am really proud of myself for not crying (my left leg scraped badly *ouch*). The three of us, still in a line, managed to reach the car where we unloaded the groceries. I had to get home before I killed myself!!!
Its now exactly three days since nothing happened. I think my series of unfortunate events has stopped; or has it not?? There is only one way to find out; keep reading this space for updates (grin*)
