AASU irked by delay in completion of 11th NAP Camp and Government Polytechnic Aboi

Aboi, April 27 (MExN): The Aboi Area Students’ Union (AASU) has expressed resentment over the delay in construction of 11th NAP Camp at Aboi and Government Polytechnic Aboi .

In a press release on Tuesday, the AASU stated that instead of heeding the request of the students’ organization to complete constructing of the 11th NAP Camp, the concerned department “went on to fix the date for inauguration of the said camp.”

It further stated that the foundation stone was laid during the year 2007 but it took 14 long years “due to the lackadaisical attitude of the concern department and the slow pace implementation of the said work.” As such, it questioned the authorities as to how the works were delayed and demanded assurance that the remaining construction would be completed within the time frame.

It also asserted that the “Aboi area has no objection for early inauguration of the said camp but the department has to know that the work is still half done and accommodation of jawans will pose huge problem, thereby interrupting the normal duties of the jawan and staff posted there under.”

The AASU meanwhile stated that the “ Government Polytechnic Aboi which was also inaugurated last year before completion of work and as such no further progress has taken place till date.”

“The union presumes that the inauguration of said institute would bring relief to the students’ community to carry forward its academic goals. Yet, the building of the Government Polytechnic stands tall alone without any additional works taken up for teaching staff and hostels for students,” it added.

As such, the AASU urged the Home Department and Technical Education Department to complete the work first before any proposed inauguration and expressed resentment against “such flimsy inaugurations anywhere in Nagaland.”
