AASU relents; chaos follow

DIMAPUR, JULY 10 (MExN): As soon as the All Assam Students Union (AASU) declared a withdrawal of the economic blockade, fresh bouts of mayhem wreaked the border areas with reports of firing and arson. It was reported that a tea stall in a private tea estate in 8 Khel near Sonapur was set ablaze and eight to nine rounds of blank firing was heard in the same area. A couple of blasts also sounded in the jungle around the area around 2:30 to 3 pm.  This new development has aggravated the situation just as AASU decided upon a compromise and withdrew the long standing blockade. However, the AJYCP has refused to follow its counterpart and are sticking with the blockade. Reliable sources from Assam disclosed that the AJYCP are unhappy with the AASU for taking the said decision without meeting and consulting with them.

Following the worsening of situation, sources from Assam said that all the residents of the bordering area near Geleki have moved out and the place was now full of Assam police. While the miscreants responsible for the firing and arson is yet to be identified, reports were received that the Assam police has fired some blank rounds in the vicinity.
