ABSORPTION BACKLASH: LSU opposes demonstration involving students

WOKHA, APRIL 19 (MExN): In response to the Naga Students' Federation (NSF) notification dated April 19, the Lotha Students' Union (LSU) has strongly opposed a recent circular calling for a demonstration involving students and teachers across government institutions in Nagaland. The demonstration is reportedly in support of the recent regularisation of Assistant Professors, which the LSU claims flagrantly disregards the principles of meritocracy and transparency.

The LSU stated that such a move undermines the fabric of the education system and compromises the future prospects of countless students. It cautioned authorities not to exploit students' enthusiasm or jeopardize their futures by involving them in this matter. Endorsing what the LSU described as an irregular regularisation process, it warned, would amount to tacit support for corruption and diminish students' own opportunities.

Reaffirming its stance, the LSU stated that it prioritizes students' welfare and future, while upholding meritocracy, transparency, and accountability in all academic processes.

These values, it emphasized, are essential to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the education system.

The LSU also issued a strong warning that any Lotha student or individual, within or beyond its jurisdiction, found participating in the planned demonstration would face stringent action. It noted that any failure to comply would result in individuals bearing sole responsibility for their actions, which would be seen as going against the collective voice and interests of the Lotha student community.

As the representative body of the Lotha students, the LSU asserted its commitment to protecting the rights and interests of students. It called on all stakeholders to join in upholding fairness, transparency, and accountability. The LSU reiterated its dedication to a merit-based and transparent system, affirming its ongoing efforts to ensure a corruption-free education environment.
