
Peren, May 7 (MExN): The Peren Police on Saturday issued a statement informing that the accused in the alleged assault of a school girl in New Jalukie on May 5 was promptly arrested after receipt of the FIR on May 6.
“A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the law including the POCSO Act,” according to a press release from the PRO, Peren Police.
The PRO also provided clarification on the case and stated that “though the victim was assaulted by the accused, she managed to resist and shout for help causing the accused to run away before further harm could be done. Subsequent medical examination has confirmed that rape did not occur.” It however, added that “Intention of the accused with regard to attempt to rape is being examined as part of the case investigation.”
In this connection, the PRO informed all concerned to “refrain from issuing statements presumptively on such sensitive issues without first establishing facts as these may cause an undesirable law and order situation, further trauma to the victim and family, besides also hindering the ongoing investigation of the case.” Cooperation of all concerned is solicited, it added.
