Affiliation of private schools in Nagas areas of Manipur to the Nagaland board of school education

All Naga students association of Manipur have urged the union human resource development minister Arjun Singh to allow the affiliation of the 164 private schools in Naga areas of Manipur to the Nagaland board of school education. it may be very true that the syllabus and curriculum using in the schools under the Board of Secondary Education Manipur may be very irreverent to the living conditions of the Naga people in Manipur and especially imposing the Meitei language to be used as medium of instruction in the schools may be inconvenient to the students of hill areas of Naga in Manipur.

Education is a state subject and the state itself under the union government of India have the sole right and the authority to frame the whole curriculum, syllabus, structure and the system of education to be used in all government schools as well as in private schools.

Even private ownership schools were running directly under the administration control of the state government and the concerned state government is supervising and administering all the private establishment institutions. The state while granting financial aid to private educational institutions is expected not to make any discrimination against a minority whether based on religion, creed or language. The minority character of the institution should not be destroyed while framing regulations and unhealthy conditions need not to be created upon on minority community.

Separation of government schools affiliated to Board of Secondary Education of Manipur and private schools affiliated to Nagaland Board of School Education in the four hills district will definitely cause problem to multi-faced areas. There is a big question arising while thinking about the case of affiliation. How can in the same locality and in the same district have and function two kinds of affiliation of boards of two states in respect of state government schools and private schools?

Pressing on the demanding of transfer affiliation, All Naga Students Association of Manipur had burnt down the prescribed school text books from class-VIII to Class-X to ashes in the outer four hills districts of Naga inhabited areas of Manipur. Burning down the prescribed text books to ashes is just burning down the students own asset. In case the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development doesn’t accept the demands of the Naga students of Manipur, they will be the loser one. Destroying reading and writing materials is just destroying themselves and their future. Thus, verbal discussing and other alternative means of protesting will be more benefited for all. On the other hand, we felt pity and felt care to the damaging properties of text books since teaching and learning materials are being produced from the manufacturing of different qualities of paper. Neither I support nor against the very demand of All Naga Students Association Manipur but I’m just sharing my own views opinions with the daily readers of the esteemed local daily papers.
