THE AGRI Expo 2006, which entered into its fourth day today, stunned the investors, farmers and thousands of participants from different North Eastern states with its splendor, as they struggled to find the most suitable words to describe the first ever mega event of the region.
Alemtemshi, Agriculture Production Commissioner Nagaland, who is spearheading the entire show, said that as the count down to the end of Expo begins, it is rather becoming ‘emotional’, though there was an apparent aura of relief amongst the organizers.
He termed the success of the Expo as a ‘miracle of sort’ and acknowledged in uncertain termed the role of Almighty hands in the grand success of the events. Recounting the initial hitch and despair, Alemtemshi admitted that it was never expected to bring this Expo to such grandeur and overwhelming response from the other sister states and mainland India.
Alemtemshi also admitted that Dimapur was inadequate to accommodate the weight of the whole show given the lack of class hotels, besides the lack of experience in organizing such mega event.
However, he credited the success to the amount of money invested, time and hard work put in by all sections of people.
Arunachal Pradesh, Agricuture Joint Director said that the Expo had tremendously boosted the moral of the farmers of the northeast in a big way. He expressed optimism that the show will bring about 70% changes in the Agriculture scenario of the region and give good exposure to the farmers of the region.
Assam Horticulture Director AM Paul said that the Expo had given the real opportunity to the farmers of the north east states to display their potentials especially their produce. He said that the seminars and other interactive session were very relevant. However, he also suggested that connectivity should be improved.
Mizoram state Agriculture Joint Director P Battercherji viewed that the impact of the event will undoubtedly have a far reaching effect on the farmers of the region and the investors.
Though the seminars and other interactive session concluded today, the Expo will continue beyond the last date that is Friday. However, Alemtemshi said this will be done after considering all the factors especially the security aspect.
Perhaps, the entire event proved the symbiotic relationships of the politicians, bureaucrats, industrialists, farmers and more importantly the people.
