Kohima, December 22 (MExN): A training programme on linseed cultivation was organized recently by the AICRP on Linseed, Medziphema Centre, Nagaland University (NU) in collaboration with ATMA Dimapur at the ATMA office in Niuland district.
The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about the significance and potential of linseed cultivation among farmers, with a focus on promoting its cultivation in rice fallows to enhance cropping intensity in local villages.
The training included a technical session delivered by Dr.Virosanuo Solo, Junior Agronomist at AICRP on Linseed, who provided insights into the importance of linseed and the various aspects of its cultivation technology, specifically for rainfed and utera systems.
A total of 30 farmers from 14 villages participated in the training.
As part of the program, inputs such as linseed seeds, water-soluble fertilizers, and knapsack sprayers were distributed to the farmers to support their adoption of linseed cultivation along with Imlilemla Amlari, Technical Assistant, AICRP on Linseed, Medziphema Centre, NU:SAS
Other resource persons of the programme included; Dr Engrala Ao, Junior Scientist (Agronomy) AICRP on Soybean and Dr. Lawrence Kithan, Scientist (Agronomy) AICRP on Kharif Pulses.
