AIPEU Nagaland joins nationwide strike

The All India Postal Employees Union (AIPEU) Nagaland Division today joined the nationwide strike in protest against the government's "anti-people" policies.
Following the strike, the normal function of 41 post offices across Nagaland has been affected. In the state capital Kohima, several employees gathered at the Head Post Office and shouted slogans such as “BJP Sarkar Murdabad,” “Modi Sarkar Murdabad,” “Inkualab Zindabad.”
Staging a demonstration, AIPEU Nagaland Division urged upon the central government to fulfill its 11 charter of demands.
The demands include: Scrap new pension scheme and restore old pension scheme, honour assurance given by Group of Ministers (GoM) to NJCA leaders on 30-6-2016, filling up vacant posts in central government departments, stop privatisation, corporatization of Central government, departments and PSUs, remove 5% ceiling on compassionate appointment, grant five promotions in service career, withdraw 'very good' bench mark for MACP.
Grant promotional hierarchy and date of effect from 25-7-2016, grant civil servant status to GDS, scrap Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, withdraw anti-worker labour codes and labour reforms, settle all problems arisen out of implementation of CSI, RICT/ IPPB/ CBS and withdraw draconian FR 56 (J) and rule 48 of CCS (Pension Rule 1972).
The strike was addressed by Kohima head office postmaster Kevilekho Angami, AIPEU assistant divisional secretary Kevikhrielie Kirha, executive member John Angami, executive member Kekhriezetuo Solo, auditor Peteneituo Angami, P-IV secretary Shibu Das and GDS secretary Jatin Kalita. AIPEU assistant divisional secretary L Imtikumzuk chaired the strike programme.
