AKM condemns misuse of identity and image in circulating article

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 12 (MExN): The Ao Students' Conference (AKM) has issued a condemnation against the misuse of a representative image associated with an article titled "A Retrospect of the Current Manipur Violence." The article, purportedly authored by an individual named "Imchungla Ao" from Mokokchung District, has been circulating widely on social media for several months.

In a statement, AKM highlighted that the Facebook page Zalengam Media had used the image of Imkongnukla Ao, a respected civil servant from Nagaland, inaccurately associating her with the article. AKM clarified that Ao has no connection with the content and called this act a severe case of misinformation and disrespect towards an individual's integrity.

The AKM further asserted that the name "Imchungla Ao" does not belong to any known member of the Ao community, deeming it a fake identity. This act, according to AKM, is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, tarnish reputations, and sow confusion.

“The AKM will not tolerate such unethical and irresponsible behavior,” the organization stated, warning those involved in creating and spreading such falsehoods to immediately cease their activities and rectify the misrepresentation. AKM also announced plans to pursue legal action against any individuals or organizations perpetuating this fraudulent content.

The AKM appealed to media platforms and individuals to exercise due diligence in verifying the accuracy of content and the rightful use of images and identities before sharing them.
