Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): Akumdong Humanity Fund (AHF), a not-for-profit, charitable initiative started in May 2017, held its executive meeting on August 4 in Dimapur.
The meeting reviewed the work undertaken by AHF and made plans for future activities. The executive members also reviewed the progress of one-year-old heart patient Chubamenla whose treatment is currently supported by AHF, informed a press release from the AHF Chairperson, Dr Yan Murry. They further acknowledged the support extended by Eden Medical Centre, Dimapur since its inception.
AHF executive members include Rupin Sharma (IPS) as Patron cum Advisor, Dr. Yan Murry, CEO Pinnacle Skills as Chairperson, Azungla Imsong, Administrator, Incessant Welfare Society as Vice Chairperson, Dr. I Sentimoa, Veterinary Doctor DMC as Finance Secretary, Hongba Phom, founder, Fingerprint as Secretary Admin. Other executive members are NK Krocha, Centre head of The People Channel, PK Jain, proprietor PK Travels, and Chandu Agarwal, businessman and social worker.
According to the press release, AHF supports beneficiaries in the following categories:
1) Persons below 20 years of age from poor/underprivileged background/meager income family etc suffering from debilitating diseases which require expenditures on a higher side.
2) Cases where transportation of dead body is required to be undertaken and there is no other arrangement. However, in such cases, the expenses will be limited to Rs. 20,000 only.
3) In cases of natural disasters or accidents where immediate relief has to be provided.
The initiative has been named Akumdong Humanity Fund in memory of Late Akumdong, who fought brain tumor. “Noticing and acknowledging the notable effort by Samaritans and philanthropists and everyone else in generously contributing towards supporting Late Akumdong’s family to meet the medical expenses, a need was perceived for constituting a permanent corpus for such eventualities,” the release said. The corpus will be available for assistance of individuals in dire need, who cannot themselves overcome the problems, it added.
In the past one year AHF has helped three children with brain tumor and heart defects.
The release stated that the Fund is transparently maintained in a dedicated bank account.
