The All Nagaland Gorkha Students’ Union was reformed during a general meeting in Kohima on August 27.

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 27 (MExN): The All Nagaland Gorkha Students' Union (ANGSU) was reformed on August 27 during its general meeting held in Kohima. The ANGSU “which had been the backbone of Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) had been defunct for some years,” informed a press release from the GSUK.
The union was reformed under the Initiative of Nagaland Gorkha Association, Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) and Gorkha Students Union Kohima (GSUK). The reason behind the reformation of the ANGSU is to empower education and physical activity of Gorkha students community within Nagaland, it stated. The reformative general meeting of ANGSU held at GPPK Multi Utility Hall, Kohima.
Meanwhile, John Thakuri from Kohima has been selected as the new President, Yommi Rai from Kohima as General Secretary, Sunil Limbu of Dimapur and Michael Subba of Mokokchung as Vice Presidents, Prabhat Rai of Mokokchung as Assistant General Secretary, Maya Bardewa of Chümoukedima as Finance & Treasure, and Upasna Rai of Chümoukedimaas as Press & Information Secretary.
NGA President, Nobin Pradhan exhorted the gathering while a brief history of ANGSU was shared by founding member ANGSU 1974, Buddhi Bahadur Thapa.
The meeting was chaired by Jenny Lamechane Chettri, Vice President, GSUK while GPPK Vice President, Prabhu Gurung tendered the vote of thanks.
