All villages under Tuensang have road connectivity, cell service: Govt report

As of January 31, 2020 all villages under Tuensang district have road connectivity and mobile phone service, according to the survey report on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning 2020, published by the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland.

Tuensang district has 9 blocks and 117 villages. 

The report also stated that 99% of the district’s villages have Anganwadi Centres and Fair Price Shops.

The Survey on Local/Block Level Statistics for Local Level Planning was conducted under the Support for Statistical Strengthening scheme during 2019-2020 emphasized on the major basic amenities available covering all the recognized villages of the Rural Development Department.

About 97% of its villages are electrified with the exception of three villages under the district namely, Langa village under Chessore block and Pangking village and Thangoun village under Thonoknyu block.

The villages in Tuensang district have access to 8.5% of the state’s government buses and about 13% of the state’s private buses. Taxi service is available in 54.7% of the villages in the district.

Landline phone service connects 17% of the villages in the district while 40% of its villages are covered by postal service.

10.4% of the state’s Government Primary Schools, 10% of the Government Middle Schools and 8.2% of the Government High Schools are located in the villages of Tuensang district.

The share of private educational institution of the state in Tuensang district is about an average of 6.8%.

In terms of medical facilities in Tuensang district, 56.4% of villages have Sub Centres, 8.5% of villages have Primary Health Centres and one village i.e Tuensang village under Sangsangyu block has private clinic/hospital.

About 6% of its villages have veterinary health centres. Meanwhile, about 24% of the villages in Tuensang district have libraries, 81% have Village Council halls and about 83% of villages have playgrounds.

2.8% of the State’s Indoor Stadium facility is accessible to villages in Tuensang district, while 31.6% of its villages have Marketing Shed.

PHED water supply is available in 95.7% of the villages in Tuensang district and 60.6% of its villages have Public Toilet facility, according to the report.

The report also stated that 8.5% of the state’s police stations and 13.6% of the state’s police beat posts are located in the villages of Tuensang district.

Common Service Centre is available in 9.4% of the villages in Tuensang district, 96.5% of villages have Self Help Group and about 27% of its villages have street lights.
