An affirmation that our future is in good hands

NSF and NGBF hail ‘September Joint Accordant’

Dimapur, September 15 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and Nagaland Gaon Bura (Village Chief) Federation (NGBF) have welcomed that ‘September Joint Accordant’ signed by the leaders of NSCN (IM) and the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) on September 14.

The ‘Accordant,’ among others, reaffirmed of the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR) of June 13, 2009 in the ‘interest of pursuing understanding among Nagas and incrementally progressing forward.”

“The Federation, representing the voices of the Naga youth and students’ community arbitrarily divided into four Indian States and two international countries, heartily welcome the historic agreement facilitated by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR),” the NSF stated in a press release.

The NSF also appreciated the “wisdom of our nationalists’ leaders for responding to the call of the Naga people to come together, through the healing of the spirits, and collectively assert the legitimate rights of our people.”

“This accord is a reaffirmation that our future is in good hands,” it asserted.

The Federation also expressed gratitude to the FNR for bringing about the historic accord by actively liaising with the different Naga Political groups.

“Their ceaseless efforts to ensure that the spirit of true brotherhood and oneness prevails amongst the different groups will be remembered and treasured by every single soul who will eventually inherit the solution,” it said.

The release issued by the NSF President, Kegwayhun Tep and General Secretary, Süpuni Ng Philo also expressed hope that  the accord inked with ‘the spirit of love’ will achieve its goal of ‘peace and respect and resolve outstanding issues’ between the groups sooner than later.

“This will only be possible through the sincere and concerted efforts of the parties to the accord and the active support of all the stakeholders,” it said.

The Federation assures the Naga people that we shall exercise prudence in our thoughts, speech and actions as we collectively strive to mitigate and defeat all divisive elements that threaten to disrupt the process of our nation building, it added.

‘Our greatest concern put to rest’

Meanwhile, extending gratitude and appreciation, the NGBF stated that it “supports and endorses” the “September Joint Accordant” and reaffirmation of June 13, 2009’ Covenant of Reconciliation.

“To work together in the spirit of love, and desist from all form of armed violence,” this is the motto that we, the Gaon burahs have been praying for, it said.

The NGBF further noted that peace is of paramount importance for the Nagas. We have shed enough blood among ourselves.

“Our greatest concern has been put to rest by the signing of the September Joint Accordant for which we thank our NSCN (IM) leaderships led by Gen. (Redt) VS Atem and WC, NNPGs led by Alezo Venuh, Co- ordinator,” it added.
