The All Nagaland Ad-hoc Teachers' Group (ANATG) will begin their indefinite hunger strike on June 29 starting from 10:00am outside the Directorate of School Education citing the failure of the government to meet their demands.

70 teachers, with representatives from all districts, will be volunteering for the hunger strike.

Earlier in the morning, a 'cabinet meeting' comprising of only one Minister that is Tongpang Ozukum, Minister of PWD along with KT Sukhalu, Advisor for School Education was held with the ANATG executives. The government is said to have sought more time to resolve the demands, to which the ANATG mentioned that it has been holding talks at different levels, appealing and protesting for a long time, therefore the issue of seeking more time does not arise.

"Whatever they are offering is not what we have expected for so long. We have been taken for granted for too long. This is not the time for negotiation, it is time to fulfill our demands," said Bendang Ozukum, Spokesperson, ANATG.

The members also expressed disappointment over the government's failure to come to a concrete solution. The ANATG informed that the government's assurance to move the Interlocutory Application (IA) has not been moved. "Instead the government has filed for non-maintainability to the court," stated the ANATG officials.

The protesters informed that they will be camping outside the DoSE till the government fulfils their demands.
