ANCSU appeals for safety of students

Dimapur, April 28 (MExN): As the State witnesses a resurge of COVID-19 cases with detection of cases in colleges as well, the All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) has appealed college authorities to take cognizance of the situation and ensure all possible measures for the safety of the students and its college fraternity.

In its statement on April 28, the ANCSU urged the Nagaland University to thoroughly assess the prevailing situation and be prepared with various strategies for safe conduct of the forthcoming examinations.

It also made an appeal to the student community to maintain discipline and adhere to SOPs laid down by the concerned authorities in containing the spread of the virus.

While acknowledging the State government for heeding the voice of the students, the Union urged the government to strictly enforce the SOPs on inbound travelers and extend maximum assistance to schools and colleges during these trying times.

On closure of hostels
Referring to the State government’s new guidelines from April 30 to May 14 which has ordered the closure of educational institutions and hostels, ANCSU stressed that no student should be forced to leave the hostel or be forced to stay in the hostel.

The Union informed college authorities and hostel proprietors/wardens to acknowledge the same.

During the stay in hostel or during the inter district movements, students are advised to follow strict SOPs laid down by the competent authorities, the Union stated.
