ANCSU reiterate stand on verification of documents for doubtful candidates

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 4 (MExN): In connection to the selection of candidates undergoing MBBS, BDS and other professional courses under Nagaland state quota, the All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) has reiterated its stand for meticulous verification of documents of doubtful candidates (non-indigenous) through the electoral voters list published on 5/12/1963.

In a press statement, ANCSU reminded the state government and the concerned department on the latest prescribed format of Indigenous Inhabitant certificate issued by the P& AR Department, that the “concerned family has been entered in the Electoral Roll published on 5/12/1963 and has been paying house tax prior to 1963 and the family has acquired property and patta prior to 1963.”

ANCSU revealed that during the course of verification carried out by district administrations, some doubtful candidates could not be authenticated as Indigenous Inhabitant of Nagaland. It has therefore asked the concerned doubtful candidates to prove themselves genuine Indigenous Inhabitant by producing relevant documents.

Correspondingly, ANCSU also cautioned that anyone claiming seat under Nagaland quota for undergoing the mentioned courses with fake documents shall be responsible for any kind of “misunderstandings or confrontations in future.”

ANCSU further appealed the state government to initiate stern action on those erring officials for issuing ST and Indigenous Inhabitant certificate without proper verification of documents.

It lamented that the Office Memorandum (OM) of the Government of Nagaland, P&AR Department vide NO.AR-12/3-89 Dated Kohima the 4th Oct 1995 has not been followed/implemented accordingly by the district administrations over the years.
