Angami Youth Organization celebrates Sekrenyi Festival

Kohima, February 27 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organization (AYO) celebrated Sekrenyi with traditional gaiety at Naga Heritage village, Kisama on February 25 last.

Nagaland’s Youth Resources and Sports advisor Er Zale Neikha graced the festival as the special guest. Speaking on the occasion, Neikha called upon the Angami community to introspect their position in the Naga society said that as per the 2011 census Angamis consist 2.68 lakh population.

He emphasized on the need for the Angami leaders to be united and be supportive and also help one another. We need to move towards entrepreneurship and business instead of solely depending on the government jobs, he said. Er Neikha also emphasized on the need for the youngsters to uphold the culture and tradition of the forefathers.

The celebration was chaired by AYO president Kekhrie Pfukha the significance of Sekrenyi was shared by APO advisor Dr Vilhusa Seleyi. Vote of thanks was proposed by AYO treasurer Mhasimhalie Mathew Yhome.
