Dimapur, April 27 (MExN): Civil organizations are denouncing the alleged rape of a 4-year old child by a person called Ravohu alias Monao Singh, 60 years, on April 20. The Phek Area Mother’s Association, Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union and a colony organization in Dimapur Hebron Colony Youth issued statements today decrying the alleged incident.
In a joint statement, the Phek Area Mother’s Association and Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union condemned the crime. The accused was stated to be from Wanching village of Manipur.
“On 20th April 2011, Mr. Monao Singh locally known as Ravolhü who disguise himself as a Chakhesang serving in 5TH NAP Bn Phek, raped a 4 yrs old girl minor, a student of Cl. LKG studying in Govt. Primary School Hebron colony Phek,” the PAMA and the PTCSU stated.
“Viewing the damage done to the victim and the Chakhesang people at large, the union appeal the concern authority to immediately take appropriate action on the culprit who is in police custody now,” the organizations stated.
The public is urged to fight such crimes. The organizations have also informed the public to participate in a protest rally to be organized on April 29, from 9 am. A separate note from the Hebron Colony Youth also denounced the crime. According to a note from the organization, the matter became known when the health of the child deteriorated seriously and later medical authorities confirmed rape. The accused was then apprehended when he was about to escape from Phek. The police later took the accused into custody, the youth organization stated.
“His inhumane and satanic act has no place in the society and shall never be tolerated” the youth organization stated. They have urged the authorities to award befitting punishment to the accused.
