Kohima, November 30 (MExN): The All Nagaland Pre-Service Teachers Association on Tuesday said that it was “astounded” by the recent statements of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Advisor for School Education KT Sukhalu during the recent NLA session.
Terming the statements as “unjust, detrimental and an attempt to deprive the employable rights of the deserving trained teachers through open means [sic],” the ANPSTA questioned how an excess of 10,000 teachers arose. “On what ground and under which recruitments were they inducted, since the last open recruitment pursued till date was 2015-SSA recruitment conducted by the concerned department i.e. DoSE,” it asked.
Citing “reliable sources,” the ANPSTA said that annually, around 250 teachers retire on superannuation, and as such, questioned how there were excess teachers. Asserting its right to know how and when such vacancies were filled up, it asked the CM to “justify on appointment of superfluous teachers.” It also said the CM contradicted NPF leader TR Zeliang and MLA Yitachu’s statements that there were shortages of teachers due to ban in appointment.
It further urged the CM to be unbiased and “walk the talk” by conducting fair recruitment of trained teachers.
