The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has served a four-day ultimatum to the Government of Manipur, beginning May 29, demanding that the government establish the condition and whereabouts of the six remaining Naga hostages and hand them over to the Naga people within the stipulated period.

In a statement, ANSAM warned that failure to do so would compel the Nagas to collectively boycott the present Government of Manipur. The association also stated that it may appeal to Naga legislators supporting the government to withdraw their support “in the larger interest and security of the Naga people.”

According to ANSAM, the decision was taken during an emergency presidential council meeting held on May 24, 2026, along with former leaders of the association, in view of the prevailing crisis in Manipur and the abduction of 18 Naga people.

ANSAM alleged that despite repeated press statements, public demonstrations and media briefings by Naga civil society organisations, the government had failed to address the issue, resulting in fear and insecurity among communities.

In the statement, ANSAM demanded immediate action against those involved in the killing of Wilson Thanga at Joujantek ambush, the killing of two Naga civilians at TM Kasom ambush, and the killing of three Thadou church leaders in an ambush between Kotzim and Kotlen.

The association further demanded the immediate abrogation of the Suspension of Operation agreement between Kuki militant groups and the Government of India.

ANSAM also reiterated its demand for the removal of Nemcha Kipgen from the post of Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur and appealed to all concerned authorities to act with urgency to prevent further escalation of the situation.
