ANTPEUU appeals state govt to address grievances

Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): The All Nagaland Trained Physical Education Unemployed Union (ANTPEUU) held a meeting on July 27 to discuss some unattended matters and delaying of the Union’s demands by the state government, according to a press release received here today.

“The Union expressed grievances over the concerned departments for delaying the advertisement for Physical Education Teachers for about 4 years, where some members have overaged and many on the verge of overaging,” the release stated.

Lamenting that Physical Teachers and Coaches were given less importance in schools despite the state government giving more importance to sports as compared to recent years, the Union emphasized that young athletes need proper training in all aspects of sports and only a qualified trainer can bring optimum changes.

The release stated that the Union visited concerned departments to share grievances and also displayed banners and placards to air their grievances.

Further, the Union encouraged it members to “take and grab opportunities relating to sports where they can practice their professionalism rather than waiting for government to bring changes and getting out of touch.” It also appealed to all the ‘trained unemployed physical education individuals’ to get enrolled in ANTPEUU, while expressing hope that the state government would soon give justice to the union’s demand.

Meanwhile, it appreciated the officials for the upcoming Nagaland Olympic events where the state government is trying to promote an athlete in sports but on the other hand, stated that it was disheartened to see “the neglected Physical Education Teachers, who moulds, prepares and encourages young sport person from the grassroot level starting from their schooling.”
