The much-anticipated 36th edition of the Children’s Christmas Cake Carol Competition (C5), organized by the Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo (MTBA) Youth Department, concluded with Aongza Youth Fellowship emerging as the champion.
The event was held at the Mokokchung Town Square on Friday night under the theme “Echoes of Joy,” featured 801 children (aged 5-12) from 10 fellowships showcasing their caroling talents.
Aongza Youth Fellowship, represented by 75 enthusiastic young singers, claimed the top spot with their spirited performance. Alongmen & Dilong (A&D) Youth Fellowship, comprising 130 children, secured the second position, while Penli Youth Fellowship, with 60 participants, finished in third place.
The competition, a cherished tradition in Mokokchung since its inception in 1989 by the then leaders of MTBA, continues to serve as a platform for children to spread the joy and message of Christmas through music. This year’s event was convened by Nuklar Longchar and saw performances of both original compositions and classic Christmas carols. The 10 fellowships—A&B, A&D, Aongza, Arkong, Kichutip, Medical, Salangtem, Penli, Tongdentsüyong, and United Christian Fellowship (UCF)—filled the Town Square with festive melodies, creating a magical atmosphere. It is worth mentioning that 7 out of the 18 wards in Mokokchung are not under the jurisdiction of the MTBA.
