Aphuyemi FC of Zunheboto emerged champions of the 5th Nagaland Futsal Club Championship 2026 after defeating Team Aspirants FC of Kohima 5-3 in the final played at Riga’s Astro Turf, New Terogvunyu, near Tseminyu, on June 20.
With the victory, Aphuyemi FC lifted the championship trophy and received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
Nagaland Football Association (NFA) president K Neibou Sekhose presented the winners’ trophy and prize money to the champions.
Team Aspirants FC finished runners-up and were awarded a cash prize of Rs 50,000 by NFA general secretary and MLA Benei M Lamthiu.
Earlier in the day, Team Aspirants FC secured their place in the final after registering a dominant 15-2 victory over TRS FC of Tuensang in the first semifinal.
Aphuyemi FC advanced to the title clash by edging past SC Nagaland of Mon 4-3 in a closely contested second semifinal. The closing ceremony was compered by Medolenuo Ambrosia Loucii, while tournament director Hethanglo Kath presented the tournament report.
A special musical performance was presented by Obed Kath of Divine Connection during the closing programme.
Tseminyu Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch was also present at the closing ceremony. The three-day tournament, which began on June 18, was organised by the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) with the Football Association Tseminyu District (FATD) serving as the host.
Altogether, 10 teams from different parts of Nagaland participated in the championship.
