Champions of the 4th Nagaland Futsal Club Championship Aphuyemi FC.

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, MARCH 24 (MExN): The 4th edition of the Nagaland Futsal Club Championship (NFCC) concluded with a high-energy final at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence in Sovima, Chümoukedima, where Aphuyemi FC (Zunheboto) reclaimed the title after defeating defending champions Nyenshen FC (Tuensang) 7-4.
The championship match, which kicked off at 8:40 p.m., was a showcase of fast-paced futsal, with both teams demonstrating tactical precision and high-level competitiveness. Aphuyemi FC’s attacking firepower ultimately proved decisive, securing their victory and the honor of representing Nagaland at the upcoming national tournament.
The tournament, organized by the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), saw participation from leading futsal clubs across the state, highlighting the sport’s growing prominence. Aphuyemi FC was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, while runners-up Nyenshen FC received Rs 50,000.
The closing ceremony, held at 7:30 p.m., was chaired by Imli Sunup, joint secretary of the NFA and co-convener of the championship. The event’s chief guest, Dr. Watizulu Jamir, chairman of the Development Authority of Nagaland and vice president of the Badminton Association of India, underscored the role of sports in youth development and state-building.
The ceremony also featured a welcome address by NFA vice president Mughato Aye, a special performance by singer T. Wongyinla Yimkhiung, and a benediction delivered by Tali Moa Jamir, associate pastor of the Ao Baptist Church Diphupar-A.
