Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): The damage the Naga peoples hold have also damaged relationships too profound to be taken lightly and the Naga underground groups need to sit and talk, the Angami Public Organization said today. The statement of the APO received here said to be taking the stand of the Angami in regard to all the “national workers.”
The APO observed recent developments in the Angami area said it calls “for a clarification of Angami perception and conviction following the visit of Th. Muivah, general secretary NSCN (IM), to Angami areas.”’
“Angamis as with all other tribes are clear that the wounds and hurts sustained within the Naga family have damaged relationships among Nagas too excessively to be treated lightly. They must be addressed at a level deep enough and healed so that the health of our society may be restored and our politics cleansed and made worthy of our trust and confidence,” the APO stated.
To go into this sensitive process will take time, and prior proper ground work would be needed. The right time must be worked out and Angamis can be depended upon to play their part towards achieving the needed healing and reconciliation, the apex Angami organization said.
However, the APO said, it believes that the prior need for the Nagas at this juncture is for the top leadership of all the groups of the fragmented Naga “national struggle” to sit down and transparently thrash out the specific and precise terms for political negotiations with Government of India to achieve an honorable, acceptable settlement of the Indo-Naga Political issue that will last.”
“APO believes this strategy will open the door to real reconciliation, healing and unity to make the settlement work. It will be an honour for the Angamis to host such a historic event if required to do so. This is the stand of the Angamis with regard to all the groups of the Naga national workers,” the APO added.
