Dimapur, April 28 (MExN): Graduating students of Trinity Theological College (TTC) were urged to apply theological knowledge towards personal transformation and community renewal during the institution’s 29th Graduation Service held at Thahekhu, Dimapur on April 27.
The ceremony centred on the importance of transformative theological education.
Delivering the keynote address on the theme “Theological Knowledge: Not for Display but for Transformation,” General Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Rev Dr Mar Pongener called on graduates to use their learning in practical ways for personal and community renewal.
Drawing from the Biblical passages Numbers 16:24–26 and Romans 12:1–2, he emphasised that theological education should lead to humility, service and meaningful ministry.
Quoting theologian Karl Barth, he said, “Theology is not done on one’s feet, but on one’s knees,” underscoring the importance of prayerful leadership.
As per a press release from the college, a total of 89 students received diplomas, including 81 Bachelor of Divinity (BD) graduates and eight Master of Theology (M.Th.) graduates from the Department of Old Testament and Primal Religion.
Proficiency awards were presented by Principal, Rev Dr Hukato Shohe; Academic Dean, Dr Shelly Swu; and Dean of Higher Studies, Dr Vikato Achumi.
Graduating class representatives Manglang Phom (M.Th.) and Tusovelu Sapuh (BD) also shared reflections on their academic journey and commitment to transformative ministry.
