AR conducts civic activities across Nagaland

Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): Various battalions of the Assam Rifles under the aegis of the HQ IGAR (North) conducted civic activities across different districts in Nagaland.

Peren: The Jalukie Battalion celebrated Holi with children at Child Care Home at New Jalukie, Peren district on March 30 under the banner ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The children were helped with gifts, study materials and other essentials, a press release from the AR stated.

Kohima: The Kohima Battalion organised a drawing and painting competition for the students of Khedi Baptist Higher Secondary School, Kohima district on March 30. A total of 45 students participated in the competition.

Kiphire: Kiphire Battalion established a Mushroom Cultivation Centre at Pungro under Kiphire district, on March 30. In order to promote Organic Mushroom Cultivation as an alternate means of self sustenance for the people of Pungro village, the Mushroom Development Centre was inaugurated by Nuhuta Tumki, NEC, EAC Pungro in the presence of members of Pungro GB Union and Yimchunger Tribal Council.

Phek: To commemorate the gallant defence of 1 Assam Regiment during the Battle of Jessami, Chieswema Battalion and Phek Battalion organized a wreath laying ceremony at the Jessami War Memorial, Phek district on April 1. The ceremony was attended by Jessami village elders and other state organization heads.

The Phek Battalion also organized an interaction with GB, VCC and Village Guards of Reguri village on March 30. The villagers were sensitised with reference to the prevailing security situation across IMB and welfare issues of the village were also discussed.
