Kiphire, January 24 (MExN): The Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) organised awareness drive at Pungro town on provisions of Free Movement Regime under the civic action initiative of Assam Rifles. The lecture-cum-discussion included awareness on various policies and regulations to be followed for people availing facilities of FMR, a release from the HQ IGAR (N) informed on Sunday. The Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the India–Myanmar border allows tribes living along the border to travel 16 km (9.9 mi) across either side of the border without visa restrictions.
The awareness lecture was attended by 23 Village Council Chairpersons and Head GBs of important villages in the border area. The event was organised with strict compliance to social distancing norms, the release stated.
