AR nabs 6 with weapons in Dimapur

Kohima, July 6 (MExN): As per a delayed report, 6 persons, along with weapons, were apprehended by the Assam Rifles in Dimapur on July 4. 


A press release issued by the Defence PRO, Kohima, stated that it was "part of the ongoing crackdown by Assam Rifles on insurgent groups."

 

It said that an operation, along with the local police, was launched near Green Park, based on "specific intelligence regarding illegal cash transaction" involving the NSCN (IM).

 

Two active NSCN (IM) cadres along with 4 accomplices were apprehended during the operation.


One US-make .22 pistol, one AK 56 rifle with magazine, one .22 rifle (Zerujorka) with magazine, one model CZ 99 Precision Calibre 22 Long Rifle with magazine, two packets of RDX explosive, Rs 1,58,72,800 in cash and "other incriminating materials" were recovered, it informed.

 

The release added that the apprehended persons along with the recovered items were handed over to Diphupar Police Station for further investigation.
