Noklak, February 2 (MExN): Assam Rifles Shamator Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (North) distributed two handloom machines at Aniyakshu village on January 31.
“Under Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme (ARCAP) the Battalion is specifically addressing the women and children of border areas. Aniyakshu is such a remote border village in Noklak district and does not have access to most modern amenities,” a press release from IGAR (North) stated.
A project for provision of weaving cum handloom machines for women of the village was executed in Aniyakshu village based on request received from the village authorities, it stated.
The Battalion also coordinated and provided training to female volunteers through authorized trainers provided by Department of Industry and Commerce, Government of Nagaland. “This project has taken off successfully and is providing much needed financial independence to the women folk of Aniyakshu village. The project has further brought citizens of remote border Villages closers to Assam Rifles. IGAR (North) added.
A total of 40 women and children attended the events.
