Dimapur, February 28 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on Saturday stated that Assam Rifles is on a ‘smear campaign’ to demoralize the Naga political struggle.
“The Assam Rifles (AR) in their newly adopted style of operations against the NSCN have gone for the inclination to take a fancy to the word ‘surrender’ with the pre-determined plan to demoralize the Naga political struggle,” it said in a statement issued through its MIP. It also accused the AR of presenting ‘false information’ to the media to serve their own narrative on NSCN.
Referring to news items in several newspapers regarding the recent surrender of three NSCN (IM) operatives, it clarified that Private Chakwang Wangsu was discharged in 2012, Corporal Khampai Wangsu discharged in 2008 and Private Nokdun Wangsu was discharged in 2013.
“Therefore, the word ‘surrender’ is a misnomer in this context,” the statement read.
