• That shows there is life for our women even beyond the four walls, unlike in many states of India. absolutely a positive step!!
Those who voted ‘NO’ had this to say:
• Beauty pageant? What beauty pageant? There is no such thing as a beauty contest in Nagaland. Contestants are not even aware of the power of what a real woman is supposed to be. Organizers look only in terms of monetary gratification while forgetting the true essence of holding a pageant- bringing out the true beauty of a woman in terms of her grace, intelligence and humility
• Need to move out from the night towards clear lighted day break.....
• Though it is good for the consciousness as a weapon in order to wake up the society yet it is degenerating the moral values of the women which is considerably degenerating as decades passes on. Moreover it posses a threat to the God’s given beauty and there are more chances of being misused.
• It cannot be serve as part of women empowerment, the conscious of socio-economic and cultural advancement is a must for them in empowering women.
• Because that very contest doesn’t make any sense in Naga Society. Moreover that so called beauties once crowned the coveted crown, they never live up to the expectation as desired by the crown.
• How many contestants have we seen getting leverage in any field due to them winning a crown?
• In reality beauty contests in Nagaland are half-baked attempt at glorifying womanhood and their non-existent empowerment. It is time for woman in Nagaland and our society as a whole to stop living in a time warp.
• No: In Naga society the beauty queens do not play the role as a true Naga lady and a beauty representative should act.
• Ways or infrastructures are limited. No proper platform for that purpose

It is indeed a sorry state to say that why an issue is laid for beauty contest as a form of women empowerment, I believe it is just a mere form of relating human with a change of fashion all this decade and to realize that tranformation of mindset is taking place, some may be offended and some may graciously accept, nothing else.
