
Army assures action will be taken to ‘secure justice for all’
DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 27 (MExN): An inquiry team of the Indian Army is set to visit the incident site of the December 4 Oting killings in Mon district on December 29.
A press release from the Defence PRO, informed that the team will also be present at Tizit Police Station, Mon District, between 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm on December 29.
The team has solicited from the public at large any primary information (not forwarded or not from secondary source) pertaining to the incident. Any person having such information and desirous of deposing before the Inquiry is requested to do so at Tizit Police Station, the press release informed.
“Any original information, photo or video (not forwarded or not from secondary source) related to the incident may also be shared with the Inquiry team via Phone, SMS or Whatsapp Messenger at +916033924571. The information may also be shared in person to the Inquiry team at Dinjan Military Station in Assam,” it added.
The press release informed that the original documents/audio-visual recording will be collected from the source following due legal procedure.
On December 26, while reiterating regret for the loss of lives, the Indian Army had informed that its inquiry is “progressing expeditiously and all efforts are being made to conclude it at the earliest.”
“The Army is also fully cooperating with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry ordered by State Government and required details are being shared in timely manner,” the PRO Defence press release stated.
It requested all “brothers and sisters of Nagaland to be patient and wait for the findings of the Army inquiry,” and assured that action would be taken in accordance with the law to “secure justice for all.”
