Dimapur, June 9 (MExN): Battalions of the Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of the HQ IGAR (North) conducted civic activities in different parts of the State.

According to a press release from the AR, the Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles provided critical assistance to District Hospital, Mokokchung in establishing a COVID care center on June 8.

The initiative was aimed to shoulder the responsibilities of District Administration in facilitating the people with optimal patient care and necessary medical aid, the release informed.

The battalion provided temporary waiting tents and potable water for the patients. The District Administration and locals expressed their gratitude and appreciation towards Assam Rifles, it added.

Meanwhile, in Peren, the Jalukie Battalion under the aegis of Spear Corps organized a COVID-19 awareness drive for the children and staff of Zeme Women Organisation Children’s Home and Christian Servanthood Ministry Orphanage Home, Peren Town on June 9.

The team organised a campaign focused on creating awareness about precautions to be taken in wake of recent surge in COVID-19 cases. The team emphasized on use of face masks, social distancing and use of hand sanitizers among other precautions. Face masks and hand sanitizers were also distributed to the staff and the children. A total of 7 staff members and 27 children were benefitted from the awareness lectures, the release informed. The staff members of both the orphanages were also encouraged to get their COVID-19 vaccination completed, it added.
