Assam Rifles conducts activities across Nagaland

Wokha, November 18 (MExN): The Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) conducted series activities across Nagaland including COVID-19 awareness camp, medical camps and Children’s day celebration in the recent past. According to HQ IGAR (N), the activities were part of its civic action programmes. 

COVID-19 awareness camps 

The Mokokchung Battalion carried out a series of activities like awareness lectures on COVID-19 preventive measures and medical checkup in Dessoi, Tuli and Changki from November 2 to November 10. 

Meanwhile, a total of 37 villagers attended a similar campaign conducted by the Jalukie Battalion at Govt Primary School, Ndunglwa in Peren November 17 where face masks and sanitisers were distributed.

The villagers were briefed about various health and hygiene precautions to be taken during the pandemic as well as admission process in Sainik School Punglwa.  

The Battalion also conducted similar camps in Tapein village on November 12 and  Old Chalkot village in Peren on November 17.

The activities were conducted with the objective of propagating precautionary measures against COVID-19 and reach out to the local populace, HQ IGAR (N) informed. 

Children’s Day Celebration 

Meanwhile, the Jalukie Battalion also celebrated Children's Day in Athibung on November 14 along with Athibung Regional Club by reaching out to children at Government High School, Athibung. 

Students from GHS, Athibung were informed about precautionary measures to be taken during the COVID-19 pandemic while face masks and sanitizers were also distributed.

Schools bags were also distributed to girl students in need during the occasion while information about Sainik School entrance examination was also imparted during the event.  A total of 141 children and nine teachers attended the programme.

The Battalion also celebrated the day with the children of the Christian Servanthood’s  Orphange Home and Zeme Women Organisation’s  Children Home along with Childline Peren. 

The occasion was utilized to spread awareness about precautionary measures to be taken during the COVID-19 pandemic and the team from Childline Peren also briefed them about various child welfare schemes. 

A total of 33 children and six staff members participated in the event. In Noklak, the Shamatore Battalion celebrated the day  Noklak Town and Choklangan. 

The aim of the event was to motivate children to realize their maximum potential in any field of their choosing, HQ IGAR (N) said. Awareness talks on various career options available including Indian Armed Forces and COVID-19 were also imparted. 

Medical, Veterinary & Child Counseling Camp 

The Jalukie Battalion also conducted Medical, Veterinary and Child counselling camp in collaboration with Veterinary College, Jalukie and Childline, Peren on November 12. 

During the camp, the villagers were briefed about the various health and hygiene methods to be implemented during this crisis and were provided with necessary medicines. 

They were also briefed about the ongoing admission process in Sainik School, Punglwa and were urged to utilise the opportunity for a better and brighter future of their children. 

The Veterinary team provided necessary treatment to the livestocks of the villagers while team from Childline, Peren informed about various child welfare schemes being run by the state government  for the welfare of the people. 

A total of 157 villagers and 75 livestock benefitted from the combined efforts of security forces and Veterinary college, HQ IGAR (N) said.
