Assam Rifles conducts various activities across state

Kohima, November 1 (MExN): The various battalions of Assam Rifles conducted various activities across Nagaland this week including the awareness and medical camps as well as rescue efforts.

COVID awareness camps: The Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted “COVID awareness camps” at various villages Mon and Tuensang distrcits including Yakshu, Monyakshu, Noykhu and Wangti on October 31. 

The objective of the event is to create awareness about the menace of COVID-19 and measures to be adopted for prevention of COVID free in Nagaland, informed a press release from PRO, HQ IGAR (N), Kohima. A total of 20 males and 40 females, including village GBs/Chairman attended the camps, it said. 

    
Meanwhile, the Jalukie Battalion organised intensive and focused COVID-19 campaign in Peren village where the attendees were briefed about important safety protocols such as use of face masks and social distancing. 
A total of 40 residents attended the campaign in different groups to ensure social distancing, the release said. 

Medical Camp: A medical camp was also conducted by Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles in Chenloisho village, under Mon district on October 31.

A total 51 males, 90 females and 49 children benefitted from the camp, the release said.

“The aim of medical camp was to provide medical support and assistance to the villagers especially the old, handicapped, orphaned people and the women who are unable to go to the hospitals at far distances,” it added. 

Rescue effort in Noklak: The Shamatore battalion rescued two children, two ladies and the driver of taxi, who were seriously injured in road accident, 8 kilometres away from Noklak on October 30. 

Assam Rifles personal moving in the same area immediately swung into action to rescue the injured and they were were immediately moved to Noklak district hospital by the troops, the PRO release informed.

Timely and prompt action by Assam Rifles and civilians present on site saved precious lives, it added.
