Assam Rifles flagged in the National Integration Tour upon its return to Nagaland from Delhi on October 23.

Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): The Assam Rifles flagged in the National Integration Tour upon its return to Nagaland from Delhi on October 23. The 16-member team of Mothers and Widows Association of Phek District returned to Nagaland from the National Integration Tour from Delhi and Agra which was flagged in by Major General Vikas Lakhera, Sena Medal, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) at Kohima.
“For the first time such a tour was organised for women of the Mothers and Widows Association, Phek district,” PRO, HQ IGAR (North) stated in an update.

The tour which was flagged off from Phek District of Nagaland on October 15 to commemorate the International Day for Rural Women, witnessed the women undertook a nine days journey which encapsulated visits to India Gate and National War Memorial, historical tour of Rashtrapati Bhavan, Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Shastri Bhavan, Taj Mahal and cultural extravaganza offered by the bustling streets of Sarojini Market and Delhi Haat. The tour also provided the women a platform to interact with Smriti Zubin Irani, Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs, it stated.
Addressing the gathering, Major General Vikas Lakhera, Sena Medal, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) exhorted the Mothers and Widows Association to work towards further cooperation and upliftment of the Naga society and to encourage participation in future tours which could benefit the common masses.
At the end of flag in ceremony, all the members of the Association were presented with mementos and gifts.
