Dimapur, August 11 (MExN): Apropos the alleged raid carried out by Assam Rifles at the residence of Kishore Jeedung, Steering Committee Member, NSCN (IM) in Dhansaripar on August 9, Assam Rifles has refuted the allegations.
“The allegations of 20-30 intruders with mask without insignia, deliberate violation of Cease Fire Ground Rules, search of the house post forced signing of the No Objection Certificate by the occupant, man-handling of the son, disrespecting the traditional ‘Dimasa Kamcha’, questioning of an 8 year old daughter thereby instilling a sense of fear, are baseless devoid of evidence and is a deliberate attempt by the NSCN (IM) to tarnish the image of Assam Rifles,” asserted a rejoinder from Maj L Vincent Patton, PRO, HQ IGAR (N).
It said that based on information of presence of an arms dealer/arms and ammunition in the house of Kishore Jeedung, a joint operation by 32 Assam Rifles and Nagaland police was planned on August 9.
“While interacting with Kishore Jeedung, the individual informed the Assam Rifles Company Commander that he is a Card Holder and a member of Steering Committee of NSCN (IM). Consequently, the operation was not progressed any further and no search of the house was carried out by AR and the police as has been alleged,” the PRO stated.
The rejoinder further claimed that an NOC was also obtained from the individual. “During the brief interaction with Kishore Jeedung, the Security Forces conducted themselves in the most dignified manner with the individual and his family,” it added.
