Asst professors on fixed pay being continued: Nagaland H&TE Minister

Kohima | September 21

The status of assistant professors serving on fixed pay in various Government Colleges is being continued, Nagaland Higher & Technical Education Minister, Temjen Imna Along, informed on September 20.

He stated this in a written reply to a question on the “status of 154 Assistant Professors who were appointed contractual basis” in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Asked why their services could not be regularised, the Minister replied that the regularisation of Assistant Professors had been kept in abeyance due to a circular from the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms dated April 6, 2018.

The circular was issued after an interim court order passed by Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench on July 28, 2017 restraining the regularisation of contract appointment while hearing a writ petition.

“It is hereby notified to all the Government Departments that no proposals for regularization of contract appointment should be sent to P&AR Department till the matter is resolved by the Court,” the circular then added.

Moreover, there are no vacant sanctioned posts, added Minister Imna Along in the written reply to an unstarred question posed by NLA Member Kuzholuzo Nienu.
