ASU 29th Biennial Conference:  No delegates to lodge in the venue

Preparations are in full swing for the 29th Biennial General Conference of the Angami Students' Union (ASU) slated to be held from April 23 to -25. However, no delegates will be lodged at The Heritage Village, Kisama the conference site as against previous decisions.

ASU, President, Vizokho Zashümo told The Morung Express on phone that after a meeting with District Task Force and on whose request lodging has been asked to put down, the executives has decided not to lodge delegates.

However, sequences of the programme remain unchanged and all guest speakers will attend without cancellation. An alternate arrangement made for the delegates is to provide daily transportation for the three days programme. With lodging cancellations and surge in COVID-19 cases, the expected delegate now stands between 25-35%.

The President was of the view that strict adherence to the SoPs can be maintained since the space of the arena accommodates huge crowd. As such, a distance of 6 feet can be maintained. Other necessary arrangements for strict monitoring and protocol have been made. 

Earlier, in view of the COVID-19 Pandemic and to comply with SoPs, delegation from each region to camp at the venue will not exceed 100. As such, attendance during the conference was also limited to less than a thousand.

The conference will be held under the theme, 'Reflections'. It will also commemorate 75 years of Kohima Sub Division Students' Conference and 50 years of Angami Students' Union (ASU). 

Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio will grace the three-day event as inaugural guest.
