Kohima | April 25
In adherence to its recent press statement on rampant misuse of government designated vehicles of school duty, the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has conducted field checking at various schools in and around Kohima. In course of checking, ASU said several vehicles were booked and the keys were seized and only released after stern warnings in the presence of the officer to whom the vehicle was allotted.
The Union voiced its strong resentment on erring government servants failing to comply with the Union’s notification, which included vehicles attached to ministers and top bureaucrats. ASU secretary education Kesosul Christopher Ltu said that ASU officials and volunteers shall remain vigilant and not put up with the “disreputable practice” and also urged the competent government authorities to immediately take necessary steps for curbing the rampant practice. Further, the Union cautioned that “punitive actions will be taken against erring personnel henceforth found misusing government vehicles.”
