ATAN blames Comm & Secy for deadlock

Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): The ‘Aggrieved Teachers’ Association of Nagaland’ (ATAN) today blamed the “arrogance and aggressiveness of Commissioner and Secretary, School Education” for the deadlock in arriving at a resolution to settle the issue of reinstating some teachers dropped out of service earlier.  The ATAN narrated instances of what was implied to be insults and display of arrogance by the official.

When officials of the department invited the ATAN to have a meeting, the ATAN “expecting positive response, agreed, and the meeting took place in free and frank discussions,” a note from the ATAN’s leaders stated today. “ However, in a sudden development, the Commissioner and Secretary expressed his ignorance on the meeting that the honorable Chief Minister of Nagaland did not assured to accommodate those aggrieved teachers who were labeled as ‘forged signatures of appointing authority’ having genuine educational certificates.”

As a matter of fact, ATAN claimed, the chief minister assured on June 3, 2010 “to accommodate even those who falls under such category, shall be given fresh appointment even if they are over aged.” And the same was also conveyed by the CM “through Shri. Azheto Zhimomi, MLA and Advisor (Sericulture & Cooperation) which he himself gave a press statement.”

“To our surprise, Commissioner and Secretary declined and expressed his ignorance that such assurances were given,” the association said. The members who were present on the day of the meeting with the chief minister (in the presence of Commissioner and Secretary) insisted that the CM “had assured, but the Commissioner and Secretary without respecting the sanctity of the previous meeting, pointed his fore-finger to bring recorded conversation and directed to go to the court.”

Thus, ATAN said, the meeting saw no progress and abruptly ended “as the ATAN does not posses the recorded conversation with the CM due to security protocol” and “moreover, such demands were never anticipated.”

Also ATAN said that on September 7, 2010, when the association’s leader “went to his office to submit 18 pages representation, without any glance the said officer threw away the said representation aside his table and passed insulting remarks saying ‘this holds no water’ etc.” “Therefore, we condemn his style of running government office, as an officer of such position should know how to handle in time of crisis though we don’t have to teach a high ranking officer.”
