ATAN condemns re-verification

Dimapur, January 30 (MExN): The Aggrieved Teacher Association of Nagaland (ATAN) has strongly condemned the Vigilance Department for what it stated was “re-verifying the aggrieved teacher members”. “The Special Investigating Team (S.I.T.) have clearly pronounced their findings in a report submitted to the government, which indicates that they have declared their findings and therefore they have no moral right to investigate the same issue for which their verdict is pronounced”, stated a press note issued by the ATAN Executives.

As such the ATAN has directed all its members not to co-operate in the re-verification. It was also informed that re-verification of some teachers were done “in isolation without any third party and under pressure tactics” and as such appealed to the state government not to acknowledge this re-verification. The ATAN also argued that since the present Director of School Education, who was the main accused in the S.I.T. report, has been cleared from the case/allegations and reinstated in his previous post, therefore, the ATAN demanded that all the employees of the education department effected by the S.I.T. report should be equally treated with the same yardstick. The ATAN also wanted that the School Education Minister should shoulder the responsibilities in the department’s activities. All the ATAN members have also been informed to attend the General Meeting on 1st February, 2011 from 3:00 P.M. at ISBT, Dimapur. Attendance is compulsory and members have been asked to bring in suggestions.
