Dimapur, February 4 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur Niuland block conducted demonstration programme on ‘package of practices of green gram (Moong)’ at Ghotovi village on February 2.
The resource person Dr Lowrence Kithan, Scientist (Agronomy), AICRP-SASRD, NU, Medziphema stated that the spring crop is to be sown by mid of February and can be harvested after 70-75 days. The seed may be sown by broadcasting or may be drilled in furrows behind a plough. The seed rate varies from 15-20 kg per hectare when sown alone. He also stated that proper irrigation should be provided when there are less chances of rainfall during dry season.
Demalu Hasnusa, BTM, Niuland block highlighted on the treatment of seeds with biofertilizers before sowing and stated that 33 kgs of green gram seeds, biofertilizers and summer vegetables were distributed to the two SHGs present.
