A farmer-scientist interaction programme was held at ATMA Training Hall, Dimapur on March 16.
Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): A one-day farmer scientist interaction was organized by ATMA Dimapur on March 16 at ATMA Training Hall, Dimapur, with resource persons from KVK- ICAR, Jharnapani.
The interaction session was chaired by Dr Ithika Dy PD, ATMA where he welcomed all the participants and resource persons and apprised the farmers to take full advantage of such types of programme by participating in a two-way interaction process.
During the discussion session, farmers highlighted about some major pest outbreak in previous years due to which they have incurred a huge loss.
Dr Roben Singh ACTO, Agronomy, KVK, Jharnapani shared about some control measures of major pest and diseases through cultural and chemical ways.
He also stressed on the importance and benefit seed treatment before sowing for better yield and protection from diseases and pest attack.
Special focus on weed management in maize crop was also briefed to the farmers. Some farmers also shared about the diseases infestation in soyabean field, especially in the month of June for which Lireni Kikon ACTO, Plant Protection KVK, Jharnapani recommend use of organic/herbal medicines instead of using chemicals.
Emphasis was also given on crop rotation, use of bio-fertilizer (black manure). The programme concluded with vote of thanks from Demalu Hasnusa, BTM, Niuland Block. Altogether, 32 farmers attended the programme.
